Laurie Schickler Lollar (Laura Lollar) co-authored the Camp Book with her mother, Marilyn Ladd Schickler after conducting numerous video interviews and compiling letters from friends and family about their memories of Camp Pinehurst.
Back Cover: In 1938, Walton and Margaret Ladd purchased 18 acres in the Bristol Hills near Honeoye, New York. It was there that Walt proceeded to build a cabin that would eventually turn into a 3000 square foot Camp. Three generations of family and friends would grow to love Camp Pinehurst, the site of many picnics, barbecues, hunting parties, sleep-overs and snipe hunts. Everyone was welcome!
This heart-warming book is a compilation of stories about their beloved Camp, submitted by cousins, aunts, uncles, children and friends. Walt and Marg’s daughter, Marilyn Ladd Schickler, narrated the bulk of the book telling stories about the cabin, “crick,” the outhouse, campfires and a few watering holes. Her stories are humorous and poignant, harkening back to a time when life was simpler.
The stories in this book will delight extended family and friends who remember Camp Pinehurst and Walton and Margaret Ladd’s legacy.
