Cabin Mama Stories
Friends named Laura Lollar “Cabin Mama” after she realized a dream and bought a tiny log cabin in Colorado. She treasured the quiet, woodsy surroundings which served as a gathering place for friends and family and was an inspiration for her humorous stories. Early settlers built Laura’s little log cabin in 1924. But in 2013, the serenity was tragically broken when the Black Forest Wildfire swept through this small community, burning 500 homes, including Laura’s cabin.
Laura continues to write, spinning folksy stories about cabins, critters, growing up in a big family, becoming an engineer’s wife, raising rambunctious kids, camping exploits, and other adventures. These Cabin Mama stories are humorous, heart-warming and poignant. They’ll bring a chuckle to your day and perhaps a tear to your eye. It’s possible they’ll even trigger your own youthful memories of days gone by.

The Camp Book by Marilyn Ladd Schickler and Laurie Schickler Lollar
In 1938, Walton and Margaret Ladd purchased 18 acres in the Bristol Hills near Honeoye, New York. It was there that Walt proceeded to build a cabin that would eventually turn into a 3000 square foot Camp. Three generations of family and friends would grow to love Camp Pinehurst, the site of many picnics, barbecues, hunting parties, sleep-overs and snipe hunts. Everyone was welcome!
This heart-warming book is a compilation of stories about their beloved Camp, submitted by cousins, aunts, uncles, children and friends. Walt and Marg’s daughter, Marilyn Ladd Schickler, narrated the bulk of the book telling stories about the cabin, “crick,” the outhouse, campfires and a few watering holes. Her stories are humorous and poignant, harkening back to a time when life was simpler.
The stories in this book will delight extended family and friends who remember Camp Pinehurst and Walton and Margaret Ladd’s legacy. Click below to buy.
