We recently visited a friend who was camped near Red Feather Lakes Village, about 50 miles from Fort Collins, Colorado. We took a hike around the lakes, but never expected to wrap up the day with a visit to Gnome Road or, as some call it, Elf Lane. It was the ultimate magical mystery tour!
This place is populated with gnomes, elves, fairies and other creatures that frolic in the forest. You’ll see them everywhere — in the underbrush, peeking from behind trees and perched on boulders. It’s a full quarter mile of fun and entertainment for you, the kids and the grandkids!
Gnome Road is not on a map. It’s well off the beaten path between Lake Hiawatha and Lake Apache. A sign on the road asks visitors: “Please do not take us, break us, or relocate us, as we live here on Elf Lane to watch over children and all the little animals.”
They even have a Facebook page! Visit “Red Feather Lakes Elf Lane” and get to know these shy little creatures. The daily profiles on this page will put a smile on your face!
